gm everyone!

While the markets are dreary, we've got our heads down in building mode. We had a great end to epoch 4, with 302.36 ETH given to projects and 198.4 ETH claimed by users.

This was a fun epoch. We received loads of useful feedback from our community, and our team was deeply focused on iterating and improving the user experience to make voting easier.

During the voting, we implemented an easier way to get the UQ, where the allowlist would be automatically fetched from Passport, instead of requiring users to go to our custom Passport dashboard to get the unique stamp.

We also emphasized the custom dashboard's link because the special stamp for our allowlist was not visible through the regular Passport homepage.

We're still working on tackling sybil attacks. If you have ideas on how to address this, join the discussion on our governance forum here.

If you donated to epoch 4, claim your POAP here.

🗓️ Epoch 5 Key Dates

And a final reminder, we've got 15 slots for new projects in epoch 5.

Key Dates:

  • Eligibility Check: Aug 1-15
  • Project Info Submission: Aug 15
  • Snapshot Vote: Aug 19-25
  • Allocation Window: Oct 13-27

Read the submission process for participating in epoch 5 here.

Speaking of epoch and updates, we'd love for you to take 2 minutes and fill this survey. We're working on improving the app and we'd love your thoughts on what's important to you when supporting a project.

Rumor goes every time someone fills this form, the price of ETH goes up (disclaimer: this is not financial advice).

💚 Octant Community Fund (OCF) Grantees

It's been a busy summer for our governance council at Octant. The council was overseeing a ~50 ETH pot split into 3 categories:

  • Dev Tooling
  • Community Rounds
  • Marketing

Our OCF grantees for this round are:

Dev Tooling

  • Lotto PGF - is building raffles for $GLM for holders and the Octant community.
  • Hats Protocol -  is formalizing and increasing the legibility of the Octant councils and other Octant roles with an on-chain source of truth.
  • Grow The Pie - is developing a detailed, upgraded, and more visible Octant Tracker on their core platform.

Community Rounds

  • Climate Coordination Network (CCN) - Climate Solutions Octant Grants Round is a funding round targeting climate projects that have shown the highest impact.
  • Gitcoin x Octant - a content and community round for past Gitcoin round participants.
  • Purple DAO x Octant - Purple Retroactive Funds public goods projects in the Farcaster ecosystem every 2 months. They're running a 10 ETH joint round between Octant and Purple.

Marketing

  • Nacion Bankless Marketing - are making Octant and public goods conversations more accessible to the LATAM community through videos, articles, podcasts, and events in Spanish.
  • Public Goods Flywheel by Lana Dingwall and Kate Goheen - are creating a Public Goods Flywheel, by ensuring that GLM gets into the hands of regenerative and public goods minded individuals, so more people stake and use Octant.
  • Unitap - are making Octant incentive programs and onboarding easier by demystifying Octant mechanics. They're creating bite-sized and high-quality educational content paired with one or multiple incentive programs each supported by a specific marketing campaign.
  • Trailblazers of Octant Podcast by Crypto Altruism - is a new educational series that will amplify Octant's mission while highlighting the public goods builders that have received funding through Octant.
  • Octant Grant Proposal by Yinka - will be getting the word out, and creating brand recognition for the public goods funding space through engaging and informative content.

Octant at ETHCC

Our Head of Community, James Kiernan speaking in a panel during the Grants Funding Forum

ETHCC feels like eons ago, and even more so as we set our eyes on ETHWarsaw and Devcon. But, to recap, we had a fantastic time meeting so many of y'all in Brussels.

We partnered with the cool cats at Metagov, How2DAO, and Regen Village to organize the Grants Funding Forum. Conversations about impact, grantees, project sustainability, and all things public goods? Count us in.

These are important conversations for us as we grow into the next phase of funding public goods. If you'd like to help shape Octant, join us. We want to hear from you.

Till then,

Keep building, keep locking GLM, and keep supporting public goods!
