TLDR: Funding the Commons Taipei, Epoch Two, and a new Shefi Octant round
🇹🇼 We were at Taipei!
We had a great week at Funding The Commons. Â The Ethereum community in Taipei was very welcoming and we met so many great people! Some of our highlights from the week:
- Our Head Of Community, James Kiernan, gave a keynote talk on Octant and some of the exciting things we've got coming up for 2024.
- Our Co-founder, Julian Zawistowski, also had a very interesting panel alongside Executive Director of Funding The Commons, David Casey, and Founder of the Radical Ecosystem, Ele Diakomichalis. It was informative panel that addressed the underlying issues in public goods funding, and what we're hoping to see as the ecosystem evolves.
- Our final session was with our Advisor, Dobrusia Gogloza, on "Why People Give", where she dove into the nuances about how extrinsic motivators can actually be a deterrent for grant giving platforms.
This was a great event to cap the end of a fantastic year. 2024 will be a big year for us as we go into running community grants with partners. Our partnership with Diva will also bring about interesting use cases for Octant and public goods funding, while providing more health and resiliency for Ethereum.
With our next funding window just around the corner in January, we're excited to see what the future holds for 2024 and beyond!

- And finally, we added live allocation metrics so you can easily follow what's happening during the allocation window.

💫 Shefi Octant Grants Round
We're excited to be collaborating with SheFi to fund founders and builders! This is a really exciting opportunity to fund important initiatives being built by those in our community!
How will this work?
We're providing 6 ETH for the rounds matching pool with the round being powered by quadratic funding on Grants Stack. This is a mechanism that matches contributions from individuals to the matching pool. The higher the number of individual donors, the more matched funds a project gets!
If you have a project and want to apply, submit your application before 12/27. Anyone in the SheFi community can signal support to any of the participating projects from 1/3 to 1/10 on Optimism.
Every contribution, no matter the size, is extremely helpful in supporting these projects.
Eligibility includes: Being a public goods builder or educator, with a focus on female or non-binary founders who are active in the SheFi community, have attended two SheFi events, or follow both SheFi and Octant across our digital platforms.
